Aker BP – Consent for Exploration Drilling in the North Sea

Aker BP has been given consent by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill exploration well 2/1-17. The well belongs to exploration licence 019 in a prospect named Kark, for which BP is the operator.

Well 2/1-17 is around 276 kilometres south-west of Stavanger, and its geographical coordinates are:

56° 49' 06.15" N

03° 08’ 19.69” E

Water depth at the site is 66 metres.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in mid-August 2019 and is expected to last around 40 days.

Well 2/1-17 will be drilled using the Maersk Interceptor mobile drilling facility.

Maersk Interceptor is a jack-up drilling facility delivered by Keppel Shipyard in Singapore in 2014. The facility is operated by Maersk Drilling Norge AS and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in December 2014.
