Decipher Delivers First Oil from Orlando

Tuesday 2 April 2019

Decipher Production Limited, the North Sea focussed development and production operator, announced the commencement of production from the Orlando Field.

In June 2018, Decipher successfully drilled and completed the Orlando development well 3/3b-13Y. The well was drilled to a Total Depth of 18,266ft with a fully oil bearing horizontal pay interval of 3,946ft completed within the Tarbert Formation of the Brent Group. The results of the well were better than predicted with good porosity and excellent oil saturation. During the clean-up flow the well was confirmed as being able to deliver the anticipated peak production rates of over 10,000 bopd.

The Orlando subsea installation programme, completed in late 2018, included the installation, trenching and burying of an 11km pipe in pipe production pipeline and umbilical and the installation and pull-in of the production riser and dynamic umbilical to the Ninian Central Platform. The recently completed Ninian Central Platform works have included the installation of new facilities and the upgrade and modification of existing facilities, suitable for the Orlando field life. Orlando oil will be transported from the Ninian Central Platform through the Ninian Pipeline System to the Sullom Voe Terminal for processing and offtake.

Decipher CEO Steve Bowyer commented: “Successfully drilling the Orlando well within 12 months of acquiring Iona and delivering Orlando first oil within two years of completing the Iona acquisition is a great achievement and demonstrates what can be delivered when key stakeholders and the wider supply chain align on a clear plan. We are delighted to have exceeded our anticipated subsurface outcome from the well and are pleased to report that following the implementation of a robust HSE assurance programme our offshore operations have been completed without any significant incidents. The performance and collaboration of our key supply chain partners and the strong relationships developed will be key in delivering our future projects. In parallel with maturing our existing portfolio, we are targeting the acquisition of further high value development opportunities and are in a strong position to execute our growth plans as a result of strong investor support“.

TechnipFMC Vice President, Subsea Commercial UK, Mediterranean and Caspian, Bill Morrice, said: “We are proud to have supported Decipher in this challenging project and to have had the opportunity to provide an integrated solution involving many of TechnipFMC’s product lines and services. To see first oil achieved from the field is a major milestone for all concerned.”

EnQuest, as Operator of the Sullom Voe Terminal (“SVT”), is pleased to see the completion of the tieback of the Orlando field to SVT via the EnQuest-operated Ninian Pipeline System (“NPS”).

SVT General Manager Craig Lennox said “We are pleased to have worked successfully with Decipher and our other co-venturers in NPS and SVT to secure this important new business. We look forward to continuing to work with our stakeholders to transform SVT and maximise the long-term value of the terminal, ensuring a high uptime and low cost service for our Owners and our third party users for many years to come.”

Decipher is maturing the potential high value Senna and Mansell discoveries. New 3D broadband seismic was acquired over these Licences during 2018, with the improved data quality an important factor in unlocking the joint Senna/Mansell development potential. These opportunities will be progressed towards an investment decision in 2019. We carry estimated contingent recoverable resources of up to 70 MMboe for a joint development. The Senna structure has a STOIIP estimate of over 160 MMbbls. The Mansell Licence, previously known as the Staffa field is anticipated to deliver a further 8 MMboe of recoverable resources.

Decipher Subsurface Director Ross Cameron commented: “The new 3D broadband seismic acquisition was carried out efficiently by CGG and the ongoing processing of this high quality data set will allow us to mature these opportunities to determine their full resource potential and the optimum development solution. We look forward to receiving the processed data over the coming months, developing our subsurface understanding and determining the optimum development solution.”

Notes: Decipher Production Limited and Decipher Developments Limited are subsidiaries of Decipher Energy Limited.

Orlando, Senna and Mansell are located in the Northern North Sea. The Orlando Field is located in Licence P.1606, Block 3/3b, 11km NE of the CNR International operated Ninian Central Platform. The Senna discovery is located in Licence P.2311, Blocks 3/7c, 3/8c and 3/12a and the Mansell discovery in Licence P.2448, Block 3/8g. Mansell is within 11km of the Senna Licence allowing the potential for the creation of a new Northern North sea production hub.

The Orlando well was drilled and completed with the Ocean Guardian semi-submersible drilling rig, operated by Diamond Offshore Drilling (U.K.) Limited, with AGR Well Management Limited the appointed Well Operator. TechnipFMC plc completed the subsea development with Petrex Developments Limited project managing all facilities development activities.
