Fram is an oil field in the northern North Sea, around 20 kilometres north of Troll. Water depth in the area is around 350 metres.
Equinor has now received consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to use the Deepsea Atlantic mobile drilling facility to drill three production wells.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in January 2019 and is expected to last 300 days.
Deepsea Atlantic is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the MODU GVA 7500 type. The facility is operated by Odfjell Drilling AS. Deepsea Atlantic was completed in 2009, is registered in Norway and is classified by DNV GL.
Deepsea Atlantic was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in July 2009.
