Thursday 29 November 2018
Aker BP is the operator for production licence 340/869. Petroleum Safety Authority Norway have now given the company consent to drill an exploration and production well on the Bøyla field.
The Bøyla field is in the North Sea, around 200 kilometres from land (Karmøy). The well has the following coordinates:
59° 20' 29.01" N
01° 49' 55.32" E
Water depth at the site is around 119 metres.
The operation is scheduled to begin in Q1 2019 and to last 94 days.
Aker BP must apply for separate consent to begin test production from the well.
Drilling is to be carried out using the Scarabeo 8 mobile drilling facility. This is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss CS50 MKII type, operated by Saipem Norge. It was built in Russia and Italy and put into service in 2012. The facility is classified by DNV GL and registered in the Bahamas.
