Subsea UK Initiatives: Loch Linnhe Subsea Campus
Monday 19 November 2018
In response to the regretful closure of The Underwater Centre in Fort William, the Scottish Government and its Enterprise and Skills agencies along with key industry stakeholders, have developed a Concept for Industry, setting out the vision for a future subsea equipment test, trialling, training and showcase facility at Loch Linnhe, Fort William in Scotland. This would seek to build upon the asset base of the former Underwater Centre (now in administration) and develop a commercially viable business model which reflects industry needs, adopts an international and cross-sector outlook, and maximises industrial links with academia. The vision is intended to influence and inform potential private sector interests in Loch Linnhe in such a way that would enable industry, academia, Governments and their agencies to work together to help accelerate and reduce the overall costs of essential test and demonstration in subsea sectors.
