On behalf of the licensees in production licence 199, Equinor has been given consent by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill exploration well 6406/2-9 S. The well is to be drilled to investigate a prospect named "Ragnfrid Nord", just south of the Kristin field in the central Norwegian Sea.

The geographical coordinates of the well will be:

64° 48’ 18.22’’ N

06° 26’ 51.08’’ E

Water depth at the site is 278 metres.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in early June 2018. It is estimated to last for 81 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Well 6406/2-9 S will be drilled by the West Phoenix mobile drilling facility. This is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss Maritim CS50 type, operated by North Atlantic Drilling.

West Phoenix was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in June 2008.
