Approved Development Plan for Ærfugl

Monday 9 April 2018

The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Norway has approved the development plan for the Ærfugl field in the Norwegian Sea. The field is underwater and will be linked to Skarv production ships.

Ærfugl Field is a narrow but nearly 60 km long gas and condensate field in the Norwegian Sea, and is located near the Skarv field about 200 km west of Sandnessjøen. The field is built in two phases with six seabed frames. These are linked to the production vessel in the Skarv field for processing and storage. Condensate will be exported to the market on tankers, while gas will be exported via existing gas export pipelines to the markets in Europe. Expected recoverable reserves are estimated at 44 million standard cubic meters of oil equivalents (oe), of which about 85 per cent is gas.

Production start is expected in Q4 2020 and assumed production time is 15 years.

Ærfugl is located within the Skarv Unit. The licensees are Aker BP ASA (operator, 23,835 pct.), Statoil Petroleum AS (36,165 pct.), DEA Norge AS (28.0825 pct.) And PGNiG Upstream Norway AS (11.9175 pct.).
