Spirit Energy Receives Consent for Exploration Drilling in the Barents Sea

Spirit Energy has received consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to carry out exploration drilling of wells 7322/7-1 and 7322/7-2 in production licence 852 in the Barents Sea.
The wells are located in the northern sector of the Barents Sea, 138 kilometres south-west of Bjørnøya and 310 kilometres north of Hammerfest.
The drilling location's geographical coordinates will be:
73° 24' 42.1599" N
22° 02' 24.3219" E
Water depth at the site is around 454 metres.
The well is to be drilled by the Island Innovator semi-submersible mobile drilling facility. The facility is a Global Maritime GM4000 type, delivered by the COSCO Shipyard in China in 2012. It is owned by Island Drilling Company, operated by Odfjell Drilling, is Norwegian-flagged and classified by DNV GL.
Island Innovator was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in August 2013.
The consent has been issued on the following conditions: Concerning the drilling of well 7322/7-2, this cannot start until the results of well 7322/7-1 are known and an updated drilling programme has been sent to the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.
