Wednesday 31 January 2018
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Aker BP ASA a drilling permit for well 6507/5-8.
The drilling programme for well 6507/5-8 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 212. Aker BP ASA is the operator with an ownership interest of 30 per cent. The other licensees are Statoil Petroleum AS (30 per cent), DEA Norge AS (25 per cent) and PGNiG Upstream Norway AS (15 per cent).
The area in the licence consists of part of block 6507/5. The well will be drilled about 2 kilometres west of the Skarv field and about 230 kilometres west of Brønnøysund.
Production licence 212 was awarded on 2 February 1996 (15th licensing round on the Norwegian shelf). This is the eighth exploration well to be drilled in the licence.
The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
