From the 18th of January, 2018, India will auction off the 55 blocks which are spread over 59,000 sq. km. in an attempt to capitalise on its immense hydrocarbon resources which could bring in over 200 billion barrels of oil and gas resources.

The move follows a relaxing of the rules by one of the world's largest importers which now allows companies to draw attention to where they wish to drill in a bid to bring in more interest.
