Bad Weather Delays Hummer Start-up
Tuesday 12 September 2017
Houston-based Castex Energy has been forced to push back the start-up of the Hummer field in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Field partner Petsec Energy revealed Tuesday that recent weather events in the Gulf of Mexico and related equipment delays had pushed back the completion of the development’s four pile deck.
This means it will not be ready for loadout until mid-October, resulting in the guidance for first production being pushed back to mid to late November.
Petsec previously stated output from Hummer had been expected to start during the September quarter.
The initial design capacity of the field’s facilities will be 50 million cubic feet of gas per day and 1000 barrels per day of condensate.
However, the development design also allows it to be expanded in the future to accommodate increased production from additional wells drilled from the B platform and proposed proximal well head platforms.
Castex carried out a successful production test at Hummer towards the end of last year, flowing at an average rate of nearly 19.9 MMcfd and 396 bpd of condensate during a 48-hour test.
The discovery lies in roughly 215 feet of water, about 50 miles south-east of Venice, Louisiana, and the development covers portions of Main Pass blocks 270, 273 and 274.
