IHC in Tie-up with Brazil's GranEnergia
Thursday 10 August 2017
Dutch yard group Royal IHC has teamed up with a Brazilian offshore company in a partnership that aims to provide integrate lifecycle solutions to the oil and gas industry.
Royal IHC has taken a 50% stake in GranEnergia and together the two have formed a new company called GranIHC Services.
GranIHC will provide services such as the design, building, commissioning, installation, maintenance and decommissioning of equipment and vessels.
The two players are hoping to increase their presence in the Latin American market through the partnership, Royal IHC said on Thursday.
“The partnership with Gran is a strategic move for IHC,” said IHC Latin America director Adriano Fernandes.
“It has been our goal to increase our local presence, especially in the services area. With GranIHC, we can combine Brazilian entrepreneurship with our tradition of more than 300 years in designing and building specialist equipment and vessels.”
In May last year Upstream reported that GranEnergia was one of three companies fighting it out in a tender to provide a semi-submersible floating accommodation and maintenance vessel for work on Shell’s giant Prelude floating liquefied natural gas unit off Western Australia.
GranEnergia has one flotel in operation, the CSS Olympia, working for Petrobras in Brazil on a four-year charter until May 2018.
