Ministry of Oil News: The Minister of Oil Offers 9 Exploratory Borderline Areas for Development and Rehabilitation

Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil declared the launching of the exploration & rehabilitation projects for (9) exploration blocks and the borderline onshore & offshore oil fields in the middle & south of Iraq.

Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the development & rehabilitation operations will include the onshore exploration blocks of (Khudher Al-Mai, Jebel Sanam and Um-Qasr) which are on the Iraqi- Kuwaiti borderline, and they will also include the rehabilitation of the onshore exploration blocks on the Iraqi- Iranian borderline which are (Sindbad, Huwaiza, Shihabi, Zurbatia and Naft Khana). And the offshore exploration blocks in the Iraqi regional waters of the Arab gulf.

Mr. Al-Luiebi confirmed on the keenness of the ministry of oil to invest the borderline fields perfectly via offering these fields to be developed and start to produce, by the cooperation with the specialized international companies. The petroleum contracts and licensing directorate in the ministry of oil will also prepare all the related technical data “data portfolio” of the exploration blocks and the oil fields to give them to the companies to the previously qualified companies whom wants to buy them and participate in the competition to rehabilitate the exploration blocks. He said also that the un-qualified previously foreign companies whom wants to participate can present their technical, financial, legal, health & safety, security and environmental information and documents to the petroleum contracts and licensing directorate.

Mr. Al-Luiebi said that “according to the contract” the exploration operations will include the seismic scan, drilling of the exploration & evaluation wells, mine & un-exploded bombs removing programs, the crude oil production, the best utilization for the free & associated gas and providing the funding, expertise, technology, equipment, machines and services.
