Italy’s Eni has struck an agreement with compatriot yard group Fincantieri to jointly develop natural gas power systems for offshore installations and other facilities.
The partnership pact for research and development will entail possible studies for gas-related energy projects, including liquefied natural gas and exploitation of gas resources.
Eni said the memorandum of understanding inked between the pair is part of its strategy to tackle climate change by cutting carbon dioxide emissions, promoting sustainable development and support the use of gas for transport.
“This partnership aims to develop projects regarding floating platforms for offshore production and the evaluation of energy projects with a low environmental impact,” the Milan-based company stated.
