Board of the Merchant Marine Fund approves $ 3.6 billion in Shipbuilding Projects in Brazil

The Board of Directors of the Merchant Marine Fund (CDFMM) approved R $ 3.6 billion to finance shipbuilding projects. The decision came at the 34th regular meeting of the council, held last Thursday (04), in Brasilia. Of the total amount approved, R $ 1.44 billion was destined for cabotage projects, R $ 1.26 billion were for maritime support, R $ 411.2 million for port support, R $ 303.5 million for shipyards and R $ 213,4 million for inland waterway transport.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation (MTPAC), R $ 2.06 billion were granted in new priorities and R $ 1.57 billion were added priorities. The FMM can finance up to 90% of the value of the projects requested. The percentage of financing depends on the national content of each project and the type of vessel.

In the coming days, the projects that have priority in the meeting will be made public. With this, the companies will be able to contract the financing with the agreed financial agents (BNDES, BB, CEF, BNB and BASA). The next regular meeting of the CDFMM is scheduled for August 24, 2017. The deadline for applicants to submit priority projects for funding with FMM resources at this meeting is June 23, 2017.
