Ravn Production for Wintershall

Wednesday 19 April 2017

Wintershall has launched production from its first operated field in the Danish sector of the North Sea with start-up of the Ravn platform.

The field is now producing oil from the newbuild jack-up facility located in a water depth of around 4000 metres, 300 kilometres north of the Dutch town of Dan Helder.

Produced oil is being transported via a subsea pipeline to the German operator’s nearby A6-A processing platform at a distance of about 18 kilometres for onward export to the Netherlands.

Wintershall said Ravn is being exploited based on its “appraisal through development” concept whereby continuously streamed performance data on well productivity and the lateral extent of the reservoir is analysed to determine future development options.

“Ravn paves the way for potential future oil and gas developments in the region,” managing director of regional unit Wintershall Noordzee, Robert Frimpong, said.

Wintershall holds a 63.64% operating stake in the field, with state holding company Nordsofonden on the remaining 36.36%.
