Hummer on Track for Q3 Start-up
Thursday 30 March 2017
Houston-based Castex Energy is on track to start up production at its Hummer field in the US Gulf of Mexico during the third quarter of the year.
Field partner Petsec Energy said the platform deck modifications and construction were progressing “satisfactorily” at an onshore facility in Morgan City, Louisiana.
It comes after the award in January of the turnkey contract for the design, engineering, modification, and fabrication of production facilities, and installation of the platform deck onto the already installed jacket, as well as for the planning, installation and hook-up of the pipelines connecting the platform to gas and oil sales pipelines.
Design of the production facilities has been completed and Petsec said purchase orders for long lead time equipment had been executed.
It added that planning and preparations for permitting the pipelines connecting the platform to nearby existing oil and gas sales lines were also underway.
The initial design capacity of the facilities will be 50 million cubic feet of gas per day and 1000 barrels per day of condensate.
The design allows for production capacity to be expanded to accommodate increased production from additional wells drilled from the B platform and proposed proximal well head platforms.
Castex carried out a successful production test at Hummer towards the end of last year, flowing at an average rate of nearly 19.9 MMcfd and 396 bpd of condensate during a 48-hour test.
The Hummer discovery lies in roughly 215 feet of water, about 50 miles south-east of Venice, Louisiana, and the development covers portions of Main Pass blocks 270, 273 and 274.
