EnerMech Lands Prelude FLNG Job
Tuesday 21 March 2017
Aberdeen-based engineering group EnerMech has been awarded a pre-commissioning subcontract by Technip Oceania, part of TechnipFMC, on the Prelude floating liquefied natural gas project, off Western Australia.
The work scope will include the pre-installation filling of the risers, riser leak testing, pressure monitoring of the umbilical and electrical steel flying lead during pipelay, and electrical flying leads and umbilical testing.
Works will be conducted in-field, located approximately 230 kilometres from mainland Northwest Australia, with engineering and project management conducted from EnerMech’s Perth Australia facility.
Shell, which operates Prelude FLNG, recently awarded Technip a contract for engineering and project management services at the project, providing multi-disciplinary engineering and design support.
Under the deal, Technip will handle concept, front-end engineering design, detailed and follow-on engineering services, procurement and construction management services, as well as pre-commissioning, commissioning and hand-over services.
The 5.3 million-tonne-per-annum Prelude FLNG vessel will process natural gas collected from subsea wells off Western Australia.
The vessel is expected to start production in 2017. It will be moored in about 250 metres of water.
