Ophir Vessel Selected
Tuesday 28 February 2017
The co-owners of the Ophir oilfield in Malaysia have selected a vessel for conversion into the floating production, storage and offloading vessel for the project.
MTC Engineering, a Malaysian contractor, has bought an oil tanker - Puteri Bangsa - for conversion into the MTC Ledang FPSO, said Ophir project co-owner Octanex.
Conversion works on the tanker will begin shortly.
The FPSO will have a small process facility module with capacity for 15,000 barrels of fluids per day and gas flaring and will be capable of storing up to 350,000 barrels of oil.
It will be connected to a wellhead platform via a flexible eight-inch pipeline.
"It is contracted to be at the Ophir field at a competitive rate for a period of three years, with a one year extension option," said Octanex.
No further details were provided.
The Ophir oilfield is being developed under a risk service contract. The co-owners are Octanex (50%) plus Malaysian companies Scomi Energy (30%) and Vestigo Petroleum (20%).
