HSM Offshore will construct the offshore transformer station for the Borssele Alpha project (700 MW) and optionally also for the Borssele Beta project (700 MW).

TenneT TSO B.V. has awarded a contract to HSM Offshore (Schiedam, the Netherlands) for the construction of offshore transformer stations (platforms) required to link up the wind farms to be built offshore at Borssele in the south-west of the Dutch North Sea. The contract concerns the offshore platform for the Borssele Alpha wind farm zone. HSM Offshore is also the intended partner for TenneT’s next offshore wind energy project, Borssele Beta.

The Borssele Alpha project, to be followed by the Borssele Beta project, are the first large-scale grid connections to be constructed under the National Energy Agreement for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands.

Platforms

HSM Offshore will take on the engineering, procurement, construction, transport, installation, connection and testing of the offshore transformer station under an EPCI contract.

The platform will be handed over during the summer of 2019.

The total weight of the platform, including jacket and piles will be in the range of 8000 MT and the approximate dimensions of the platform deck will be 58m long, 32m wide and 26m high.

Iv Oil & Gas-, with whom HSM have successfully completed many previous platform projects-, will be responsible for the design, engineering and procurement support, including the integration of the Tennet free issued High Voltage components and the balance of plant materials.

HSM/Iv-Oil &Gas have subcontracted the High Voltage control integration to the specialist company Joulz.

The first ever offshore transformer station was delivered by HSM in 2002 for the Danish Horns Rev A project, for which Iv Oil & Gas also provided the technical support, which is also the case for the 450 MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore transformer station, which is currently under construction in the yard of HSM.
