South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has won a contract to build a 173,400-cubic liquefied natural gas floating storage and regasification unit (LNG FSRU) for Maran Gas Maritime, a unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Shipping.
DSME has boosted its 2016 order book with the contract from Maran that is worth approximately 700 billion won (US$589 million) including an option for two LNG carriers.
The FSRU, said to be the first for Angelicoussis Shipping, is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2020 from DSME’s Okpo yard on Geoje Island.
Maran Gas in June ordered two 173,400-cubic metre LNG carriers with the options for two more vessels from DSME.
The carriers will be equipped with M-type, electronically-controlled gas-injection propulsion systems, the South Korean contractor said at the time.
