Aibel Wins Troll C Module Study

Wednesday 30 November 2016

Aibel has been awarded a front-end engineering and design study for a new gas module to be installed on Statoil’s Troll C platform off Norway, with an option to carry out fabrication and installation work.

Study work involving around 40 employees is set to start immediately at the local contractor’s Bergen offices and is due to be completed in May 2017, AIbel said in a statement.

Statoil is upgrading the North Sea facility after filing a development plan earlier this year for its satellite Byrding oil and gas discovery that will be tapped as a subsea tieback to Troll C.

Aibel also has the opportunity to carry out construction of the module under the option that entails project planning, purchasing, fabrication and installation, extending the workscope to the end of 2019.

The implementation phase would also be managed from Bergen while fabrication of the module would be carried out at Aibel’s Haugesund yard.

The contract has an overall value of more than Nkr600 million ($70.5 million), including the option.
