Wednesday 19 October 2016

Qatargas has signed a new five-year sale and purchase agreement with the UK subsidiary of Malaysian state giant Petronas covering the supply of 1.1 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas.

The Qatari state owned giant said that the deal will run until 31 December 2023 and represents an extension of a current contract that is due to expire on 31 December 2018.

"I am very pleased to extend our relationship with Petronas. At Qatargas, we are focused on building strong, long-term relationships with our customers, and reinforcing our reputation for being the most reliable and flexible supplier of LNG in the marketplace." Qatargas chief executive Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani said.

The LNG will be supplied from Qatargas 4 (Train 7), a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell, which started production in January 2011.

LNG will be delivered on board Q-Flex LNG vessels to the Dragon LNG terminal at Milford Haven in Wales.
