Total in New Martin Linge Find

Monday 17 October 2016

Total has made a satellite discovery of gas and condensate to the north-east of its under- development Martin Linge field off Norway.

The 30/4-3S well drilled by the jack-up Maersk Intrepid found between 2 million and 11 million cubic metres of resources in three formations - Tarbert, Ness and Etive - in the Brent group after being drilled in Total-operated production licence 043 in the central part of the North Sea, according to a preliminary estimate from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

The well, which flowed at 2.4 million cubic feet per day of gas during a formation test, will add resources to Martin Linge’s existing volumes of 189 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The NPD, which characterised reservoir quality as “good”, said the well will be put into production on start-up of the field that has been postponed to the second quarter of 2017 from an original schedule of later this year.

The well - the fourth exploration probe to be drilled in the licence - was drilled to a depth of 4134 metres in a water depth of 115 metres to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks.
