Eni Boosts Nooros Output

Italian major Eni has further boosted production from its Nooros field in Egypt and continues to plan more wells to continue the growth.

Eni has reached a production from the field in the Nile Delta of 128,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which 67,000 boepd is net to Eni.

“This record—setting production represents an important milestone achieved just 13 months after the discovery and ahead of schedule thanks to the success of the last exploration wells drilled in the area of Nidoco and the drilling of new development wells,” Eni said.

The production of 700 million cubic feet of gas per day is currently guaranteed by seven wells, but Eni is planning the drilling of additional wells, it said.

Nooros, which was discovered in July 2015 and put into production in September that same year, is expected to reach a maximum production capacity of about 160,000 boed in the spring of 2017.

In May, the field’s output reached 65,000 boepd after the North 1X exploration well and the Nidoco North West 4 development well were brought online. Around 33,000 boepd of this production went to Eni.

Eni holds a 75% stake in the Abu Madi West licence, where it is partnered by UK giant BP which holds the remaining 25% equity. The operator is Petrobel, held equally by Eni and by the state company Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
