Goliat Still Shut Down

Monday 12 September 2016

A meeting on Goliat was held by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) today with Eni Norge’s management. The latter has decided that this field will remain shut down until measures are implemented and management and workers agree its platform can be operated prudently.

Operator Eni Norge briefed the PSA at the meeting about the work currently under way after the power failure on 26 August, and plans about the full review of the safety position on the facility.

“We are comfortable that the facility remains shut down, and with the answers we’ve received from Eni Norge so far,” says Anne Myhrvold, director general of the PSA.

Myhrvold added that Eni Norge would brief the PSA about safety conditions on the platform before Goliat resumes production. “We will not speculate about the timing of a restart,” she said.
