DEA Preparing for Zidane

Tuesday 30 August 2016

DEA has been present in Norway via DEA Norge since 40 years. DEA is currently finalising the PDO for the Zidane development, which is scheduled to be handed in to the Petroleum Ministry this fall. According to the Managing Director of DEA Norge, Hans-Hermann Andreae, Zidane is a milestone for DEA. “For the first time, DEA would become development operator in Norway. We are working very hard for this project. With development starting this year, production start is planned for the year 2020.”

The development project Zidane is located in the Norwegian Sea in approx. 400 metres of water depth, 15 kilometres from the Heidrun platform and 250 kilometres from the coast. The licence was awarded in 2007, with two discoveries in 2010 / 2012. The development concept consists of four producers utilising a 4-slot subsea template tied back to the Heidrun platform. The gas will be processed in a new gas module before it is transported via Polarled to Nyhamna Gas Terminal.

With the acquisition of E.ON E&P Norge AS in December 2015, DEA Norge has gained additional momentum. The acquired assets have increased DEA’s Norwegian production substantially. Managing Director of DEA Norge, Hans-Hermann Andreae, is pleased that DEA is participating: “ONS 2016 in Stavanger is a great opportunity for us to tell the international oil and gas community more about our ongoing operations in Norway.”

After the acquisition, DEA Norge has reviewed its long-term growth strategy in Norway. In order to benefit from the advantages of the upstream cluster in Stavanger and to reinforce the proximity to partners, operators, authorities and expertise pools, DEA’s Norwegian head office was moved from the capital to the West coast.

DEA Norge has a solid and promising licence portfolio with assets in all major phases. The company currently holds 69 licences in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea as well as in the Barents Sea.
