Thursday 18 August 2016

Petrobras has stared work off Brazil with its sixth and final flexible pipelaying support vessel from Sapura Navegacao Maritima.

The PLSV Sapura Rubi began working for the Brazilian state-controlled oil giant on 14 August, part owner SapuraKencana Petroleum said.

The 550-tonne unit joins sister vessels Sapura Diamante, Sapura Topazio, Sapura Onix, Sapura Jade and Sapura Esmeralda in working on long-term charters for Petrobras.

Sapura Navegacao – a 50:50 joint venture between Malaysia’s SapuraKencana and London-headquartered rig giant Seadrill – has a $4.1 billion deal from Petrobras to build and operate the six units, which are on charter for a fixed term of eight years, plus another eight years of options.
