TEN to Come Online in Near Future
Monday 8 August 2016
The Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) development off Ghana is expected to come online “shortly”, project partner Kosmos Energy confirmed on Monday.
The three-field Tullow Oil-operated project has been aiming for first oil in early August, as work is now almost completed.
"TEN remains on schedule and on budget, with the project now 99% complete and expected to deliver first oil shortly, consistent with the operator’s guidance,” Kosmos said.
According to the company, eight of the eleven previously drilled wells have now been completed.
"Hook-up and commissioning of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel, connecting the pre-drilled wells to the vessel via the subsea infrastructure, is nearing completion,” it said.
A gradual ramp up in oil production towards the FPSO capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil per day is anticipated around the end of the year, as the facilities complete performance testing and well production levels are increased to optimal rates.
Confirming Tullow’s earlier estimate, Kosmos also said the average annualised production from TEN this year is expected to be approximately 23,000 bpd.
Meanwhile, gas export was planned to commence 12 months after field start-up, with the Tweneboa gas reservoir coming on stream a further 12 months later.
However, Kosmos added, plans to accelerate gas exports are currently “under evaluation” as the fabrication of the gas export facilities has been completed early and can be installed by year end, allowing connection to the existing gas infrastructure early in 2017.
On Monday, Kosmos reported a wider loss for the second quarter of the year, as revenues dipped and expenses climbed.
The US independent, which saw a $108 million net loss in the three-month period, said it expect to see a reduction of TEN spending after achieving first production during the third quarter.
