SembMarine Delivers Noble Rig
Monday 18 July 2016
Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine (SembMarine) has delivered what it claims is the world’s largest jack-up rig to drilling contractor Noble.
SembMarine revealed over the weekend that it had delivered the ultra high-specification harsh environment jack-up Noble Lloyd Noble, which will now be deployed at Statoil's Mariner field development in the UK North Sea under a four-year charter arrangement.
SembMarine claims the rig is the first offshore structure of its kind to fully comply with both Norwegian and UK regulatory standards.
Based on the GustoMSC CJ70 design, as well as Statoil's Category J specifications, the Noble Lloyd Noble is capable of operating in water depths of up to 150 metres and drilling to depths of 10,000 metres. The rig is also suited for operation over a very large platform or in a subsea configuration.
