First Subsea lands Shell job

Tuesday 5 July 2016

Mooring specialist First Subsea has landed a contract from Shell for work on the supermajor’s Appomattox development in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico. Mexico

First Subsea said on Tuesday that, under the contract, it will supply the development with its Ballgrab subsea mooring line connectors.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

“ The semi-submersible four-column production platform will be moored in approximately 2195 metres of water using 16 Series III Ballgrab subsea mooring connectors (SMCs) arranged in 4x4 clusters,” First Subsea said.

“The Ballgrab is the connector of choice when installing mooring systems in deep and ultra deep water, with over 40 permanent moored projects to date,” global business development manager Greg Campbell-Smith added.
