GSP Shipyard Announces Agreement for Construction of Four Tension Barges

GSP Shipyard, member of GSP Holding, has signed an agreement with Norwegian company SL MEKANISKE AS for the construction of four tension mooring barges.The works are part of the of the complete inshore mooring installation system of the spar platform Aasta Hansteen.
As subcontractor of the project, GSP Shipyard will perform the supply, fabrication, test and deliver of four 14,50 m x 20,00 m x 3,00 m tension barges equipped with a system for tensioning and lock off chain. The operations will be performed under the supervision of DNV-GL.
The operations under the contract will start in June 2016 and are expected to be completed by the end of October 2016.
The Aasta Hansteen Spar is currently being build as part of the development of the Aasta Hanster gas field and will be the first Spar in Norwegian waters, as well as the largest ever built with a total hull length of 195 meters. Technip is the general contractor of the engineering, procurement, construction and transportation of the Spar hull, the mooring systems as well as the design of the steel catenary risers. The Norwegian company Statoil is the ultimate beneficiary of the Aasta Hansteen field development project.
