Subsea cables for offshore wind made in America
Nexans will officially open its high voltage subsea cable plant in Charleston, South Carolina on November 9th. This state-of-the-art facility will support the rapidly expanding U.S. offshore wind market, which has potential growth of 13% annually by 2030 and will generate up to $70 billion of capital investment. Overall, the U.S. offshore wind market plans to add 20 GW of power per year, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The Charleston high voltage subsea plant, which will employ up to 210 workers, is part of a supply chain that is being developed to support the offshore wind industry in the United States.
