Wednesday 25 August 2021
Deutsche Windtechnik has founded a new country unit for the maintenance of offshore wind farms in Great Britain. The " Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore Ltd. “Started its work on August 1st and is managed as an independent company in close cooperation with the onshore country unit founded in 2016. Great Britain is at the forefront of the global offshore markets and plans long-term investments in the further expansion of offshore wind energy. Deutsche Windtechnik's entry into the offshore market as a high-performance, independent full-service provider with many years of offshore experience strengthens competition in the British service segment, which should have a positive effect on British offshore wind energy as a whole.
Deutsche Windtechnik has already successfully implemented individual offshore projects in Great Britain since 2019. This included, above all, the replacement of large components and expert work such as endoscopy of gear trains. "With the founding, we want to bring the advantages of our comprehensive, flexible maintenance expertise to the British offshore market and gain closer proximity to local customers and the offshore wind farms off the British coast," reports Carl Rasmus Richardsen, Managing Director of Deutsche Wind technology Offshore Ltd. “The expansion goals of the British offshore market are unique in the world. Our advantage is that when building our new offshore unit in the UK, we can rely on extensive experience in the offshore markets of Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Taiwan. We are convinced that our flexible service concepts will also bring significant added value to operators and investors active in the UK. "
On-site construction in full swing
Rosie Beevor, Offshore Operations Manager at Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore Ltd, adds: “We are working hard to offer all of our services to our existing and future customers. We are in the process of building sustainable structures and partnerships for logistics, spare parts management, training, project management and much more. ”As an experienced engineer and project manager for well-known manufacturers and operators in the offshore wind industry, she takes on key tasks in the development of the service unit and the operational project management on site.
Flexible full service above and below water
Deutsche Windtechnik is one of the first offshore service providers around the world. For over a decade, the company has been working on a variety of offshore maintenance tasks. In the meantime, more than 200 employees are only active in offshore maintenance, around 1950 employees work globally and onshore at Deutsche Windtechnik. The services in the offshore sector include manufacturer-independent turbine maintenance, troubleshooting, large component replacement, "balance of plants" (transition piece, foundation and foundation structures), offshore substations as well as expert reports and technical inspections above and below water. Specialized teams from the in-house central technical controlling take care of wind farm operation, logistics, technical management,
Pooling technology and wind farms in the medium term
“Our customers not only appreciate our highly flexible way of working and our technological know-how, taking into account all safety aspects. Our strong advantage is that we coordinate and bundle individual orders in the respective offshore clusters and wind farms in a technologically and logistically sensible way. The resulting savings in time, personnel and costs will also make a difference in the UK and will continue to promote offshore wind energy there too, ”says Carl Rasmus Richardsen, summarizing the advantages of the working method.
